PhD, the CEO and Co-Founder of Enstic, offered a new path in disease research. Mosquitoes, known vectors of malaria, Zika, and dengue, produce wingbeat frequencies between 300 and 1200 Hz, with subtle acoustic variations between species and sexes.
To identify mosquito species through sound, Freddy Sarathchandra had to detect subtle frequency shifts, ensure test consistency, and capture clean recordings in varied environments. He chose the GRAS 46AE CCP Free-field microphones for their precision, low noise floor, and reliable calibration. These features enabled accurate comparison of mosquito wingbeats—even in outdoor settings—and integrated seamlessly into ITD’s lab and field setups.
